Abstract
Twenty-two cows with ovarian follicular cysts were treated with 20 Armour units of antrin, acommercial FSH preparation, equivalent to 300 R. Ov. U. of FSH. Eighteen of them (81.8%) came into normal estrus 30.4 days on theaveiage after treatment. Sixteen cows (72.7%) conceived after 1.3 times insemination on the average. The therapeutic effect was higher when the hormone was given by the intravenousroute thanby the intramuscular route.
The course of healing by FSH treatment was similar to that by HCG treatment. FSH altered the state of cyst, so that luteinization took place for the most part. In some cases the cyst disappeared by regression. These findings suggested that FSH might have an action to induce ovulation, as well as luteinization, in cows.
