Abstract
Chronic hematuria accompanied by cystic tumor was found to have been occurring to Japanese indigenous cattle in a restricted mountainous area about 300km2 in space of Okayama Prefecture since about 1870. At least 30 cases of it were confirmed clinically in the past 12 years. They were 10.3 years, on the average, of age and found mostly in May and November.
Histopathological examination of severe cases revealed hemangioma, hemangioendothelioma, adenocarcimona, and transitional epithelial carcinoma in the urinary bladder. These tumors appeared. independently or in combination. They were accompanied by urocystitis. Hemorrhage was seen mainly in the tumorous region and also in other mucosal areas. In some acute severe cases, anemia occurred by cystic hemorrhage and was complicated with suppurative nephritis and piroplasmosis.
