Abstract
A dairy cow secreting milk showing an average fat content of 1.85% was found on a farm. It had been fed a diet containing very little roughage. Accordingly, the intragastric fermentation may have been disturbed and propionic acid increased in proportion in the stomach. There were no particular clinical findings. Milk yields were reduced a little. Laboratory tests revealed an increase in cholesterol and a decrease in inorganic phosphorus in serum. A decrease in serum albumin was detected by electrophoresis.
