Abstract

Forty dogs were administered with prostaglandin F. A dose of 20-30μg/kg was effective for the induction of labor pains, stimulation of delivery, and reduction of the time required for parturition. A dose of 7-10μg/kg was approriate for the prevention of placental and postpartum hemorrhage. Such side effects as celialgia, emesis, and diarrhea reported to be shown in human beings were not observed in any dogs.
