A Holstein cow 110 days old and a Black Japanese steer about 12 months old died suddenly soon after the onset of disease. Autopsy revealed dark-red foci varying in size and scattered in the brain. Histopathologically, the foci were characterized by cellular infiltration mainly with neutrophils. Finally, the diagnosis of thrombo-embolic purulent meningoencephalitis was made.
