Field Application of a New Counting Technique of Fasciola Eggs in Bovine Feces 2. Results Obtained from Cattle in Sendai, Miyagi

Abstract

Taira's method, developed for quantitative examination of Fasciola eggs in bovine feces, was applied to Cattle in Sendai, Miyagi, in 1978. As a result, the egg-positive rate was 11.% in 199 cattle extracted at random from the total bovine population of 1, 122 in this city. It reached 60-80% on one farm. EPG was 1-4 in most of those cattle and 14-33 in a few, which were kept on such farms as showing a high egg-positive rate.
