Abstract
A tumor-like nodule was excised surgically from the orbit of a 9-year-old male dog showing exophthalmos. The nodule was nearly as large as chicken's egg with a light gray color and hemorrhagic and necrotic. It was eosinophilic granulomatous reactions, which consisted of infiltration of inflammatory cells, mainly eosinophils, and proliferation of fibroblastes with many microfilariae. Coagulation necrosis, irregular spaces appearing to have been made by parasites, and vascular degeneration were also recognized. From these findings, the orbital nodule was diagnosed as parasitic granuloma.
