Abstract

In swines, area under the curve (AUC) of a new quinolon derivative, orbifloxacin (OBFX)(5 mg/kg) administered by intramuscular and oral routes were almost the same. In the multiple-dose (5 mg/kg/day for 5 days) studies with swines and calves no acumulation was observed on the plasma level. In most tissues of swines and calves, the levels of OBFX were higher than the plasma levels after intramuscular administration. After intramuscular injection, the urinary recovery rates (0-72 hrs) of OBFX in swines and calves were 71.1 and 37.3%, respectiveley, while fecal recovery rates were 9.12 and 5.46%, respectively.
