Abstract
Concurrent with investigations of living environment, age, origin, sex, breed, and examination season, we surveyed the prevalence of Otodectes cynotis in 679 household cats. O. cynotis was detected in 64 (9.4%) of the 679. Prevalence was significantly higher in cats kept outdoors (16.6%) than in cats kept indoors (8.3%, P<0.05) or cats keep both indoors and outdoors (4.6%, P<0.01). No significant differences in prevalence were noted with regard to age, origin, sex, breed, or examination season.
