Abstract
Among 7, 610 cattle necropsied in Miyazaki University, intestinal atresias were observed in 166 calves, including114 with anorectal anomalies, 49 with colonic atresia, two with jejunal atresia and one with ileal atresia.Ninety-nine of 114 (86.84%) calves showing anorectal anomalies had associated defects including fistula to theurogenital tract in 44, other deformities of the urogenital system in 49, congenital cardiac disease in 43 andspinal abnormalities in 34 calves. The incidence of colonic atresia in Holstein cattle was 3.11% and was higherthan the 0.07% in Japanese Black cattle.
