Abstract
A new set of factor sera (2) was prepared by means of cross- or double-absorption of antisera. With these sera, the serological typing of coagulase-positive strains of staphy-lococci isolated from milk samples was carried out. The results are summarized as follows. 1. Of 162 strains of coagulase-positive staphylococci isolated from bovine milk, 152 strains(93.8%) were classified into 6 groups. Each group was subdivided into types. 2. The antigenic pattern of the coagulase-positive strains from milk samples was evidently different from that of either coagulase-negative strains from the same origin or strains of animal origin. 3. It was presumcd that there was an antigenic relationship between factor sera (1) and (2). The author wishes the express his cordial gratitude to Professor K. HIRATO, head of the Department of Veterinary Hygiene and Microbiology, Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, Hokkaido University, for his helpful advice and review of this manuscript.
