Oligodendroglioma occurred in and around the substantia nigra and nucleus ruber in the mid brain of a male 23-month-old Spraque-Dawley rat. Histologically, the tumor was composed of compact tumor cells havng dark, round to oval nuclei and polyhedral cytoplasm. Ultrastructurally, the tumor cells showed the characteristics of oligodendroglias, and sometimes has various-sized dense bodies and vacuoles and tonofibrillar components in their cytoplasm.
