Abstract
Mass transfer near injection holes was surveyed experimentally with the use of a depth measurement method of naphthalene sublimation. A row of three injection holes are inclined at an angle of 35°and mounted surface flush to a test flat plate. Spacing between neighboring holes is three diameters. Approaching mainstream boundary layer was always set turbulent, while mass flow rate of injectant was changed as a main parameter, consequently laminar and turbulent jets were dealt in the present study. Mass transfer coefficient (H) for the case of film cooling configuration was normalized with that (HO) for the flat plate without holes at every gridwise depth measuring point. From these data (H/HO), two and three dimensional image processing was conducted. The effects of blowing rate and laminar/turbulent jet on mass transfer are discussed with the processed data. Flow visualization of an injectant flow was also conducted with the use of a smoke generator under the same flow conditions as those of mass transfer experiments. These results were helpful for the judgement of the injectant flow behavior.
