Recently, iron oxides and hydroxides have attracted attention as catalyst due to their low cost and environmental safety. Emerging electrosynthetic techniques provide simple and inexpensive approaches to the synthesis of iron oxide-based materials. In this work, the iron oxide films were prepared by electrodeposition and characterized by in situ X-ray absorption spectroscopy to track changes in iron oxidation state and local structure of the films during electrochemical reaction of the film caused by applying external voltage for further understanding the formation of iron oxide-based materials.
