Prototype of hydrogen sensor and concentration meter was developed based on the electric impedance of a quartz oscillator, which depends on viscosity and molecular weight of the gas measured. The instrument consists of the sensor head including the quartz oscillator and a power supply with sensing and hydrogen concentration indicator. Hydrogen concentration range using this instrument is 0.1-100 vol.%. Response time for hydrogen sensing is order on subseconds. These wide hydrogen concentration range and fast response are advantages for this instrument. Other advantages are room temperature working without any additional energy except for vibration of the quartz oscillator, which is order on microwatts and small size of the quartz oscillator. This instrument can be applicable to any place related to so-called “Hydrogen Society” such as hydrogen storage, station and fuel cell vehicles.
