Abstract

2D materials such as h-BN are widely used to decouple organic molecules from metal surfaces. Therefore, it is expected to be used for surface decoration of metal electrodes in organic devices. However, the insertion of 2D materials changes the electronic state and growth mode of the organic molecules on the 2D materials, and thus detailed knowledge of the electronic and thin film structures is essential. In this study, we have closely examined the changes in the electronic structure and thin film structure of organic molecule (DBP) on the Ni(111) surface by the insertion of h-BN.
