Abstract

In this study, we evaluated the particle size effect on the photothermal conversion of black carbon particles. BCs were generated from different types of organic materials with different carbon numbers, namely ethanol, propanol, and candle. The generated BCs were observed by SEM, and the particle size was measured and the particle size average was calculated. The temperature of the samples was determined by measuring the laser intensity dependence of the G-band peaks in the Raman spectra. The results suggest that BC with high carbon content has larger particle size and lower photothermal conversion efficiency at 532 nm wavelength irradiation light.
