Repair for Fatigue Cracks under Shoe in the Transverse Beam Member of Steel Pier for Bridge with Field TIG Welding

Abstract

Fatigue Cracks which occurred just under shoe support in the transverse beam of steel pier for bridge are reported. TIG weld for repairing after cutting out of cracks shall be proceeded as a process of structural reinforcement project under traffic. Mesurement of vibration of weldment which have fatigue cracks have been carried out. Opening displacement of root gap have been mesured. Critical opening displacement against hot crack shall be compred with site data and judged about sound welding under traffic.
