Microstructure and properties of 304 stainless steel friction stir welded by WC tool were examined. The WC tool drastically wore during friction stir welding. Microstructure sensitive for etching was formed in the stir zone. The weld had the higher mechanical properties than the stir zone, but the corrosion resistance is very reduced.
