Influence of the force and contact speed on the joint strength of the percussion welding

Abstract

The force and contact speed of the percussion welding are changed individually in order to clarify those influences on the joint strength and the discharge time. The force scarcely affects the joint strength. To obtain the high strength joint, the contact speed of 0.2 m/s is optimum, while the discharge time is about 5 ms.
