Abstract

Effect of friction welding condition on tensile strength of brass/low carbon steel joint was investigated. The tensile strength increased with increasing friction time. The joint had the tensile strength as the brass base metal, and it fractured at the brass base metal when the friction welding conditions was as follows: a friction time of 3.8s and a friction pressure of 30MPa, or a friction time of 1.5s and a friction pressure of 90MPa.
