Abstract
The welding conditions, thickness of inter-metallic compound (IMC) near the interface and interface temperature on welding characteristics of the SPCC steel and A5052 aluminum alloy were investigated using a 3.0 kW diode laser-roll welding system. The optimal welding conditions are travel speed of 0.5-1.0 m/min, pressure stress of 200-220 MPa and laser power of 2.4-2.8 kW. Thereat, uniform thickness of IMC is 8.0-10.0 micrometer, and, heating temperature in the interface is over 1173 K.
