Significance of Welding Imperfection Obtained by Thermal Elastic-plastic Large Deformation Analysis

Abstract

It was reported that welding imperfection was predicted with high accuracy by thermal elastic-plastic analysis based on the infinitesimal deformation theory. On the other way, in the case that the ultimate strength of thin plate is predicted, elastic-plastic large deformation analysis is carried out. In this paper, the significance of welding imperfection obtained from thermal elastic-plastic analysis based on the large deformation is elucidated.
