Abstract

This research aimed to retest the result of Shibahara’s (2010) research. I used an open-ended questionnaire to assess the effect of a professional seminar on the graduates’ social life after graduation. Previous research indicated that graduates recognized that the seminar affected “initiative to learn,” “facilitation of an interpersonal relationship,” and “perseverance.” In addition to these, the abilities of human relationship and the habit of logical thinking were useful for social life. However, the learning contents were not found in the descriptions. Following this, the seminar’s contents and method of management were revised to enhance the effect of the learning content’ on the social life. Despite these revisions, the results of this study and the previous study showed that there was no impact of learning content on social life.. These results conclude that even when a professional seminar engages in highly specialized learning in the department, the effects on the graduates are seen at the points, such as “competencies” and “basic skills needed for a social life.” A professional seminar is considered as one of the subjects of a department, and assumes the role of a master of specialty. However, on the other hand, this subject is significant as a “carrier education.” ut, in the other hand, this subject contains the significance as “carrier education”.
