In order to mitigate the long period motion of moored vessels at Pier J of the Long Beach Port, USA, a resonator-like breakwater was constructed at the port entrance and it is in a practical use. Although this type of breakwater is effective for sheltering long period waves, it has disadvantages such as occupying large sea areas and associated high construction costs. In this study, the possibility of reducing plane sizes of the wave resonator has been examined theoretically by installing various sloped seabeds in the resonant basin. It is confirmed that the reduced resonators with sloped sea beds have very similar performances for sheltering long period waves as the basic rectangular one adopted at Pier J.
