Abstract
A method is presented for calculating the vapor-liquid equilibrium curve from the boiling point-liquid composition relation. It involves a thermodynamical derivation of the following differential equation.
which corresponds to the Duhem equation for the total vapor pressure curve. The factor C is correlated with two constants c1 and c2 by the equation and it is found that these constants are characteristic constants of components of the system.
By the method previously reported [Chem. Eng. Japan, 13, 138, (1949); 14, 16, (1950)] the above differential equation may be solved to give the equilibrium relation. Several examples are worked, illustrating the application of the method.
