Abstract

Diffusivities and solubilities of NH3 gas in aqueous solutions of ammonia salts (NH4Cl, NH4NO3, (NH4)2SO4) have been measured in the range of salt concentration up to 3 mol/l and at temperatures of 20 to 60°C.
The diffusivity and solubility of NH3 gas in (NH4)2SO4 solution decrease with increasing salt concentration, while the diffusivities and solubilities of NH3 gas in NH4Cl and NH4NO3 solutions are nearly independent of salt concentration.
Experimental equations for diffusivity and solubility are obtained as a function of salt concentration and temperature, respectively.
