The rates of absorption of NH3 gas into aqueous acid solutions (HCl, HNO3, H2SO4) were studied using a liquid jet contactor. The experiments were carried out over a temperature range of 15 to 32°C and over a concentration range of 0 to 3 mol/l.
The absorption rates agree well with the calculated values based on the assumption that heat of solution and heat of reaction are released at the interface and the reaction plane, respectively.
