The three-dimensional hydrofoil having specified lift coefficient and pressure distribution form is designed by a numerical method. The surface panel method is used to determine the preformance of hydrofoil. A pressure distribution with specified form is taken as the beginning target pressure distribution. The geometry of an orginal hydrofoil is changed in a small amount and the pressure increment due to this change is calculated. From the difference between the pressure distribution of the original hydrofoil and the begining target pressure distribution, the geometrical correctors are derived. The original hydrofoil is modified to form a new one. By iterative calculation the hydrofoil having the beginning target distribution is designed. Correcting the beginning target pressure distribution with specified lift coefficient and repeating this procedure, finally we can obtain the hydrofoil havig specified lift coefficient and pressure distribution form. Several hydrofoils are designed as examples.
