The Use of a Digitel Computer in the Calculation of the Statical Longitudinal Bending Moment of a Ship

Abstract

Up to the present, the statical longitudinal bending moment acting on a ship has been estimated graphically by means of integraph or approximately by simplified calculations. The authors recently built up the method by which the bending moment is calculated using a digital computer. In the usual calculations, the higher accuracy is aimed at, the longer time would be taken, therefore the accuracy would not be so good as to be expected if the time is restricted. The method using a digital computer can dissolve these defects and calculate accurately in shorter time the statical bending moment with less data.
