Abstract

There is no doubt about the importance of measuring the power of marine main engine at sea trial for the ship engineers, engine designers, operators and etc. Up to now, each shipbuilder has made power measurements based on his own knowledges and experiences. The data thus obtained have hardly ever been interchanged to each other. In view of the circumstances, the Kansai Society of Naval Architects inquired power measurement methods used in Japan. It is fortunate that great deal of actual data and informations have been obtained, the result of which is given in this paper.
