Abstract

Recently motors used on ships are increasing in their number. Among them there still remain motors which require to be controlled non-stepwise or multi-stepwise. The author has already introduced, in the Journals Nos. 101 and 105 of the Society, his controlling method using wound rotor type induction motors under the name of Shibata Reducer. In this controlling method, one of the most important points is that regenerative braking can be carried out. There are three methods of regenerative braking in the Shibata Reducer. The author also obtained the successful test result about the regenerative braking. He introduces the method and the test result in this paper.
