Abstract

Recently, steam turbo-generators utilizing exhaust gas energy out of the main diesels have begun to be used practically. Such generating systems are considered to change the diesel generating systems which have been used. On the other hand, the conventional two-boiler systems are going to be changed into one-boiler systems in turbine propelling vessels, so that the operation of turbine vessels may be so economical as that of diesel vessels. In order to make it possible, a new generating plant in turbine vessels is expected to develope. Further, electric propulsion vessels using multi high-speed or middle-speed diesels have recently begun to be used practically. It is considered that the cost of the electric propulsion systems will be reduced, if the generating plants can be used as the propulsion systems in common with the ship generating plants. The said new generating systems in vessels of turbines, low speed diesels must be studied now. In this paper, the author introduces these new generating systems for those having interests in these problems.
