A Mothod of Calculation of Free Running Optimum Propellers by the variation Principle

Abstract

Based on Lerbs' lifting-line theory, the study of optimum propellers was conducted by applying the variation principle. Numerical calculation was performed and the results were compared with those which were obtained with approximate Betz' condition simplified by Lerbs.
