A Simulation Study of Turning Motions

Abstract

This is a study on the computation method for ship manoeuvring. Hydrodynamic derivatives are estimated from particulars of ships. By satisfying the correlation of predicted and experimentally determined trajectories, the standard mathematical model for ship manoeuvring is concluded. By use of this model, causes of error included in the results of turning experiments are analysed, and it is pointed out that three causes are predominant.
