An Estimation Method of Form factor and Wake Characteristics by Use of Potential Flow Calculation

Abstract

This paper presents one of estimation method of form factor and wake characteristics, which is based on parameters derived from potential flow calculation. As wake characteristics, following three factors are considered. 1) Bilge vortex center and wake value there 2) Effective wake 3) Wake peak value on centerline Further, an application of this method to design of sterm hull form is described and is shown to be helpful in improvement of stern hull form on propulsive performance and propeller exciting force.
