In this paper a method of automatic grid generation is proposed for the computation of the fluid flow around ship hull and applied to actual ship forms. The offset data, and stern and bow profile data are prescribed as initial. An exponential spline function is used for expressing ship hull form. The external grid system is created by combining successively nonorthogonal grids in the transverse sections. They are generated by geometric requirements into account, such as clustering, orthogonality, smoothness, and minimum spacing. The present method will be a useful tool for the computation of ship viscous flow
