We report a case of HTLV-1 carrier who had amebic liver abscess with rare complication. The patient was a 48-year-old male HTLV-1 carrier. He visited our hospital because of epigastric pain and fever. On examination, his liver was extremely enlarged and tender. Abdominal CT scan and echogram revealed a mass in the left hepatic lobe (S4). The diagnosis of amebic liver abscess was confirmed because the serological test for amebiasis showed positive. Percutaneous transhepatic drainage was performed, and contrast medium filled the abscess cavity. It revealed the abscess cavity communicated with stomach and biliary tree. Though this complication has been thought to be severe and sometimes fatal, his symptoms resolved completely and the lesion became absent by the drainage and Metronidazole treatment.
