Abstract
Purpose: In recent years, research has focused on examining work-family issues due to the increase of the working married women. The objective of this study is to examine the prevalence of work-family conflict among married employed women with children by the age of the youngest children. Methods: We conducted the questionnaire survey from October to December in 2005. We distributed the questionnaires to 3930 dual-career couples with children, and collected 2358 sets (recovery ratio 60.0%). In this research, 1824 cases is used for analysis. Result: 1) Labor hours (per week) and commuting time has significantly positive effect to W/FC. 2) The age of youngest children has significantly negative, and the subjective feeling of unfairness of sharing the child care among couples has positive effect to F/WC. 3) Both W/FC and F/WC have significantly negative effect to life satisfaction, but W/FC has more magnitude than W/FC. 4) About the effect of workplace culture and social support, not uncommon unscheduled overtime has negative effect to W/FC, and contrary to expectation, the size of childcare networks has no effect to W/FC for this case. (Statistical test: RMSEA=.098)
