Abstract
Purpose Internet crimes, such as one-click frauds, billing frauds, and ponzi scams have been growing and the cases of undergraduate students are involved have increased. Though making advice to ignore the demand by metropolitan police department, some students make a pay. One of the reasons is that they might have lack of knowledge of "contract". Therefore, we conducted a yes/no test two times to verify to what extent they have accurate knowledge, and to what extent they could make improvements by taking a class.
Method Students who have never learned about the contract at the university have participated(N=156).
Results 1) They have little knowledge about basic concept of contract. The correct rates are approximately half. For example, the percentage of correct answers "contract will be established only by verbal agreement" were 43%. As a consequence, they have difficulties to put in practice the "contract" in the everyday life. The correct percentage of "contract can tear up before we pay"(not correct answer) was 58%. After taking a class, basic concepts of contract made improvements, but the practice ones were not. The new curriculum guidelines have settled up four frameworks in home economics, and a "consumer and environment" is independent this time. Students can understand better the concept of contract not only through textbook but also through case studies. We will need to establish an accurate knowledge of contract to undergraduate students.
