So far, about 100 volcanic rocks were dated by K-Ar and fission track methods in Japan. Their ages are summarized and some comments are made to them. Since there are a large amount of Tertiary and Quaternary volcanic rocks in Japan, the significance to date these rocks is emphasized here.
