Abstract
For a 2-D flat rectangular prism, the spatial correlation of surface pressure along the span-wise direction is known to be higher than that of the fluctuating velocity component of approaching turbulent flow. In this study, the velocity field near the leading edge of the flat rectangular prism with B/D = 8.0 is captured by PIV in order to discuss the mechanism of correlation increase of the flow near the prism surface. The captured velocity field is decomposed by two analysis methods, the Proper Orthogonal Decomposition (POD) and the Dynamic Mode Decomposition (DMD). Some POD and DMD modes indicate the same shape in a periodic flow. This implies DMD analysis is able to apply to the flow around a rectangular section.
