Abstract
The effects of roof slope, loading speed, and aging of rafters to pole plate connections in timber structure on the wind-resistance were investigated by performing pulling-up load tests. In the first test, the connection of rafters to pole plate having different roof slope was tested in order to investigate the effect of roof slope and loading speed on strength of the connection. The results indicate that the roof slope and loading speed affects the failure behavior of specimens significantly. In the second test, the connection of rafters to pole plate obtained from an existing house was tested in order to investigate the effect of aged deterioration on the wind-resistance. From the results, it was found that the pulling-up strength of nail was increased by corrosion of nails if the failure mode is nail pull out.
