Abstract
A total of 918 patients of both sexes with their milk teeth infected with carious lesion was examined for erythrocyte and leucocyte counts in the blood. Their age ranged from 3 to 12 years, and two of them were suffering from polycythemia. A total of 65 healthy adults were also examined for the same items to serve as reference. Results were as follows. 1. Average blood counts as conducted every 3 years were determined for each age stage of subjects of both sexes ranging in age from 3 to 12 years. 2. Average erythrocyte and leucocyte counts were also determined for subject group of each age stage from 3 to 6 years with both sexes. 3. Careful observation was necessary for the treatment of two children with polycythemia and special therapeutic methods were indicated. 4 Data obtained from healthy adults furnished a reliable criterion for the classification by age of leucocyte counts in children with decayed milk teeth.
