Abstract
The purpose of this study was to assess the occlusal conditions in Korean young adults using three indices, the Discrepancy Index, Malalignment Index and Occlusal Feature Index. Totally 149 persons consisting of 78 males and 71 females were assessed, and there were no significant differences between males and females both in these three indices. When the mean scores of DI, MI and OFI in each group were statistically compared among Korean, Japanese, Chinese in Taiwan, Taiwan Aboriginals and U.S. males, there was a common characteristic that Korean, Japanese and Chinese in Taiwan subjects showed a consistent tendency to have high prevalence of crowding and displacement of teeth.
