Abstract
The necessity of home dental treatment is increasing along with the progress in ageing of the population. To offer dental health services efficiently, promotion of dental and medical cooperation must be attempted. During the dental studentsʼ clinical training, enhancement of educational content about dealing with aged patients is attempted.
As for dental health activities, the 8020 campaign has promoted the subject. In addition to the 8020 campaign, nutrition education has been promoted from the standpoint of dental health since the fundamental law of nutrition education was enacted.
As for the number of dental students, to maintain dentistsʼ high level of ability in the future, reductions in the number of entering students must continue.
In this report, the trends in dental health policies of the Japanese government in recent years are outlined.
