On the basis of the observations reported in our preceding paper, further experiments were conducted to see therapeutic effects of long-term intermittent administration of combined antituber culous drugs. Particular concern was associated with the use of rifampicin and ethambutol.
The results indicated that daily or intermittent chemotherapy with rifampicin in combination with ethambutol administered twice weekly is a highly effective regimen in the treatment of experimental tuberculosis.
