Abstract
Objective: Child poverty and their health problems are becoming serious every year in Japan. The purpose of this study was to introduce the roles and system of Yogo Teachers in Japan, and to show how the Yogo Teachers can contribute to solving these problems by reporting the current and previous presentations at IUHPE world conferences.
Contents: We have continued reporting of the Japanese child health problems at IUHPE world conferences since 1995: in total for 8 times. As a result, the term Yogo Teacher is getting spread to the conference participants. Also, the system of Yogo Teacher is getting recognized as a system only available in Japan. Yogo Teachers' practices could contribute to a solution of child health problems in Japan and the rest of the world. During 3 year-interval between the world conferences, we, National Network of Yogo Teachers in Japan, have discussed how we can improve Yogo Teachers' practices, school health care and health room activities and based on the discussion results, we improved these practices successfully.
Conclusions: Yogo Teachers' system in Japan is a unique system. As it is getting recognized at global level, it should be also applied in other countries and be contributed to solve their child health problems. This action also will be useful to improve the quality of the Yogo Teachers' practices in Japan.
