Abstract
Turbulent channel flows are studied numerically by using an improved anisotropic k-ε model. A feature of this model is an anisotropic expression for the Reynolds stress. This expression has already been confirmed to work well in the simulation of anisotropic turbulent intensities in channel flows and of secondary flows in duct flows. The present improvement of the previous anisotropic k-ε model leads to more accurate results concerning the turbulent energy near the wall and the eddy viscosity near the centerline. The results obtained show that turbulent quantities of channel are in good agreement with experimental data and numerical results from large-eddy simulation.
