Abstract
One of the most important problems in the design of force-fitted gears finding a method to determine the optimum interference at a fitting surface. However, there are very few studies which deal with determining optimum interference. Therefore, a method for determining optimum interference was chosen as one of our subjects of researches. At first, the process for determining optimum interference was discussed. Next, from the above discussion a graphical solution for determining optimum interference was introduced, and by using this graphical solution the optimum interference can be easily determined if the dimensions and kind of material of force-fitted spur gears are given. Moreover, the optimum interference obtained by the method of the present paper was compared with the interferences given by G. Niemann and R.L. Alan Jordan.
